I have decided to also add a monthly book recommendation. Those of you who really know me, know about my addiction to reading. As a child/young adult the only way my parents could punish me was to take away my books. I love to read. When I actually have time I can read at least a novel a day, and still do other things that need done.
Well today I started a new book. I am only about 50 pages into it, but I am enjoying it. It is called The Woodie Chronicles: My journey through America on the road to recovery in a 1949 Woodie Wagon by Gregory A Raymer.
This is a different type of book than I usually would read. I love crime books, suspense books, murder mysteries etc, but this book was actually written by a friend of mine. I am truly enjoying the book and I have totally been pulled in. I will definitely finish this one quickly.
Although the story is about an alcoholic, I have already found parallels to other walks of life. I am lucky that I have never had to deal with a strong addiction such as alcoholism, but I think a lot of this can be related to a lot of other things. One thing it reminds me of is depression. It is a different avenue, but I think that there are similarities.
I haven't finished the book yet, but I will definitely be interested to see how it turns out. I think it would be useful to many of us, even if you are not struggling with any addictions. I think it a great way to see that everyone struggles with something and there is always a way to work through it, but you may need some help along the way, or a big kick in the butt to get things to straighten out. I hope you read it, and I am interested in feedback if you do.
